Zeiss Introduces LotuTec™ Water-Repellent Coating for Victory Series Products

New Hydrophobic Coating Readily Sheds Water, Oils - Enhances Ease of Lens Care

CHESTER, Va., December 22, 2006 ? Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. takes great pleasure in introducing for the first time on its sports optics products, a highly effective water-repellent coating - LotuTec™. With LotuTec(TM), problems caused by raindrops, dust, smears and fingerprints are things of the past.

LotuTec™ coating is named after the Lotus leaf effect. It is a super-smooth coating for anti-reflective coated glass surfaces which repels both water and oil, causing both to form spherical beads which run or wipe off with ease. If you are caught in a heavy shower and your lenses get drenched, a shake removes most water and a gentle wipe leaves the lenses spotless. Oils from eyelashes or salts from sweat, even sunscreen and fingerprints, come off cleanly without smearing. In addition, the LotuTecTM coating is extremely durable and resistant to abrasion. Light transmission through the lenses is not affected by the extra protective coating. Clean lenses give the best view, and with LotuTec? coating, nothing could be clearer.

Just like in a lotus flower, the drops simply bead off. Dirt and finger prints can be easily removed from the smooth surface.

LotuTec™ coated products will come with an attractive hanging LotuTec™ badge attached and will have a small crescent engraved over the objective size in the model designation on the product. LotuTec™ is currently available on the new Victory T* FL 8x56 and 10x56 binoculars and will be introduced on the full line of Victory Binoculars and Victory Riflescopes, a model at a time, beginning Fall 2006, and continuing through 2007.
